Close shave

I woke up when I felt a sudden cold. My blanket was not covering me and had fallen onto the floor. The clock on my side table told me it was 3 o'clock in the morning. I yawned and I noticed the dimmer light was flickering. Got up from bed and went to it and I had the scare of my life! I saw a tiny hole on the dimmer light and the hole on the 'body' of the bear-bear dimmer light was like melting! HOLY COW! It was not like melting, IT WAS DEFINITELY MELTING! Dat really made me FULLY awake! I quickly had it switched off. I then switched on the light to the room, unplugged the bear-bear dimmer light from the socket to have a closer look. Gosh! The dimmer light was HOT!

Can u see the hole? Cannot?

There ...... a closer look –

Scary, isn't it? Luckily I woke up in the nick of time. I dare not imagine what would have happened if I had not woke up. *shudders*

Tracy, once the dimmer light in my house "exploded", with my kids in the room. Luckily no one hurt. It's due to the heat too, and the bulb just "burst" and pieces just fly all over. Since then dare not put dimmer light anymore..Can be dangerous.

I am so paiseh. Suppose to give u $ (I owed) the last meeting and I forgot again...*sigh* me very forgetful...

That's the reason why I don't put dimmer lights that are made of plastic. I always have a phobia that plastic burns. You were very lucky to be awake at the right moment. *phew*

Oh dear! That is sooooo dangerous! Maybe the plastic was the lousy type that was why it can get burnt easily?

Luckily I don't use a dimmer light. Scary lah!

Yep, I had that happen before but it didn't explode. Just saw the parts melting off. Anyway, no longer use this kind of lights anymore....the last time was because my confinement lady requested for it.

I was indeed very lucky I woke up in time. The dimmer light happened to be those cheapskate type and found out dat the plastic shield was very near to the bulb and dat was why it got heated up.

Jacss
Paiseh to tell u dat Des and I cannot sleep without the light on. I feel safer with some lights on. *tongue out*

Michelle
I use the dimmer light because I and esp. Des are scared of the dark. *blek* Ya, ya, I've oredi suggested to Pappy and had the light changed to the energy saving bulb. Thanks for the advice.

wah luckily nothing happened. it happens to these dimmer lights ... my sis haf a cheap one and it exploded like annie's ... scary. so i got one in ikea (quite cheap oso but works really well - really small WATT) and one fr mothercare that's really expensive. selling in mothercare should be really safe for kids .... i must say the mothercare night light is really good .... i kept it on the whole night and after switching off .. the piece covering the bulb is warm .. not hot. that's why they say good things dun come cheap. :)
