My Favourite Food in Pudu

Waiyo, I was not only tagged by Jess (I owed her this tag quite some time back) but oso tagged by Jessie. Better not dilly dally with this 'homework' any more or else I'll be 'jeered' by Sasha again. *blek*

As what Jess mentioned, I really don't have one favourite food, I have LOTS. I can't find any food dat really interests me in the area where I stay but I have lots in the area where I worked (worked? cos I'm working at home now *duh*). Actually I've posted the food (oso one of my lunchies during the days when I was working in Pudu) in one of my earlier post here.

My favourite is:

Beef Noodles (with lots of spring onions and parsely)

(psst, psst Jess, didn't expect my favourite food is the same as urs hor? But I guess the taste is completely different).

If u are familiar with Pudu, the stall is just situated behind Caltex Station and the former Majestic Theatre. The story of this Beef Noodles stall was featured in one of the Chinese Magazine – Famous Cuisine No. 34.

Whenever I go to the stall, I don't have to make any order, the 'young and handsome' seller will know what I want (regular customer mah). The normal bowl of beef noodles will cost RM4.00 per bowl but for mine I've to pay RM6.00 cos I always want mine to 'ka liu' (extra beef).

Boo hoo hoo, I really miss this stall's Beef Noodles.

"Gold"

What do u have in mind? Gold! I'm talking about 'gold'. U see, I've been picking 'gold''black gold' every morning these days. Don't believe? See for urself!
a
Cannot see? Here's a larger image:

I even found 'gold' on the cover of my kaya container which I left on my dining table: Yucks!

Darn it! Dat's 'cicak's' (lizard) 'shit' (waste product)! I'm really getting fed-up with picking these type of 'gold' every morning. I told Pappy how I really wish they were really gold (even small bits), save bits by bits, I'll 'futt tatt" (rich) one day (ho ho ho) .... but ... sigh .... hard luck *dreaming, dreaming, dreaming*.
a
I really detest this cold blooded uninvited nuisance and its 'ci ci cak cak' sound every nite. The other day, I tak boleh tahan lagi (cannot bear any longer). I saw a cicak came out from beneath the fridge, I gave chase! I've been waiting, for any of them to come out from anywhere, with my weapon. I pressed on my weapon which I had ready on my working table. I pressed, pressed and pressed letting out sprays of unbearable smell of aerosol and at the same time giving chase to the cicak (which was quite slow and maybe a dumb one, heehee) and in the end, the cicak "fun tou' (overturned), cannot bear the smell from the sprays of my weapon and in the end (hahahaha) I WON!

Eeeeee....... It was not dead yet, it still struggled and kept kicking its limbs, trying to turn but too late, I got my broom and dustpan ready and not forgetting my trusty old-fashioned CAMERA. Click, before it went into the plastic bag and off it went into rubbish dump to don't-know-what -land.

Luckily, my weapon's waterbased and wherever I sprayed, it 'tidak meninggalkan kesan minyak' (did not leave any oily residues). Have a look at my weapon: (hahaha!)

Early this morning I caught another one in my kitchen sink (forgot to take pic.). Thanks to Pappy who left some 'cintan mee' in the sink yesterday nite after washing the pot (just cannot trust him to do the washing, I'm sure to have to pick up his 'sau mei' (rubbish which he leaves behind). The cicak was trying to escape but it couldn't climb up the slippery sink and quickly I got my 'trusty weapon' and sprayed and sprayed and sprayed until the cicak got 'mabuk' (drunk with inhaling the aerosol, heehee) and I quickly woke Pappy (he was still in dreamland kua) up and he was 'pun mung pun sang' (half dreaming, half awake) poured hot water over the reptile until it was 'still' (not moving). I forced Pappy to pick the dead cicak and threw it away in a plastic bag.

How many more of these reptiles are in my apartment??????!!!!!!!! Aaarrrrgggghhhh!!!!!!!

I know ways of getting rid of ants, cockroaches, rats (touch wood, touch wood, no rats) but CICAKS, HOW NEH?????

Happy Birthday Pappy!

Yup, today's Pappy's birthday but we celebrated yesterday. Jason said he could deliver the cake to my house yesterday (23rd May), so might as well celebrate a day earlier as did not want to have overnite cake for Pappy. It was meant to be a surprise for him.
a
I told Jason I would be preparing some snacks for him but he passed the cake to Msau instead. So, Michelle, u got 'hau fook' (lucky mouth?) and I invited another close friend and her family (sorry we didn't invite u and u and u cos the next day u all got to 'kerja' [work]). Pappy was too shy and did not like the idea of putting and blowing of the candles, so just left Mille Crepe (I blogged about this special cake previously here) as it was. Jason, if u are reading this, see what u've missed! Hahahahaha! (but u had a better meal elsewhere *duh*)
a
Spring rolls, tuna sandwiches, fried chicken drummets,
sotong and prawns sambal, red beans 'tong shui',
agar-agar, fried meehoon and
oops forgot about the fruit salad (still freezing in the fridge at the time of 'snapping')
a
And the cake (actually it was the Mille Crepe ordered from Jason all the way from Malacca. Pappy likes it very much. This time I ordered a mix and match instead – 5 pieces of original and 5 pieces of berry berry. Ooooeeeeee ......... darn rite delicious!
a
HAPPY BIRTHDAY PAPPY!

The Mega Birthday Bash!

Oh yes, I and Destinee were invited and we attended the MEGA BIRTHDAY BASH of Kylie, Fearles, Cruz and Chumsy Ashley at Burger King in Mutiara Damansara. Pappy was so kind to drive us there but he didn't join us as he had to send some printing materials to his client. When we reached the place, I noticed the place was quite empty with only a few customers and I immediately called Annie Q to confirm whether I've reached the actual place or not as I was not familiar with the area and she told me the party was upstairs. Haiyo, luckily we made it to the right place.
a
I quickly fumbled the big bag of pressies with one hand and held Des with the other and hurried into Burger King and went upstairs. Once we reached upstairs, there were 2 chairs blocking the entrance (I was thinking "aiyo, why are these 2 chairs here") and I had to 'squeezed' my way with the big bag and Des thru.
a
Waiyoo, we saw sooo many adults and soooo many kids! I was sort of blur-blur and at the same time looking for the hostesses until I saw LaundryAmah (waved at me) and Annie Q. Handed them the pressies and I was searching for Chumsy Ashley until LaundryAmah introduced me to Barbara (Chumsy Ashley's mummy).
a
Didn't manage to take lots of pics as everybody was 'scattered' everywhere and Des was sticking to me and didn't allow me to go out of her sight *duh*.

See pictures below:

10 things I dislike about my hubby

Has been tagged by this lovely mommy of Qiqi, Chinnee. I thought I don't have to do this tag but oops seems dat I cannot escape. I don't think I would like the word 'hate', so I changed it to 'dislike' instead (soli, Chinnee).

And thank you Chinnee for letting me 'pour out' about my dislikes about Pappy. I think I would like to do this tag without hesitating.
  1. Don't expect Pappy to be the romantic type. I can't even remember if he has given me any surprises. *duh*

  2. He's one of those "China apek way of thinking" man.

  3. Always on last minute move whenever we go out and I'll always be the one rushing him.

  4. Often likes to leave things like newspaper around the house, in the toilet after doing his 'business', in the hall, in the room.

  5. Forgetful, seldom remember where he put his things esp. his specs. At one time, he even put his specs inside the fridge after getting something and searched high and low for it.

  6. No way he'll cook except fry 'cintan mee'.

  7. Never help to prepare the dinner table. Come back from work, he'll sit on the sofa and wait for his meal. After eating, he'll leave everything on the table, lie on the sofa and reads his newspaper. He does, sometimes, wash the dishes but no thank u to him, I need to 'chap' (clean) his 'sau mei' (aftermath) after he leaves the sink with 'rubbish' and I need to check the utensils to see whether they are really clean cos at many times there's still grains of rice stucked on the fork/spoon and the dishes are still oily. "Yucks" Sometimes I do tell him off dat my maid did a better job than him and he dared to complain about her for not washing properly. *duh*

  8. Pampered Destinee too much dat she's not in the least scared of him and dat makes me the 'bad' person.

  9. Seldom help with the household chores except clean the ceiling fan.

  10. He SNORES very loudly dat I've to shove him every now and then and sometimes I would 'kick' him out to another room.

Well, as most of u oredi knows dat Pappy's my 2nd husband, my 1st so-called husband is NOTHING compared to him. Therefore, I feel I just cannot only complain about Pappy, he has his good points which I would like to add (soli for violating the rules):

  1. He's a very good tempered hubby. He's always been praised by my frens (who knows him) and relatives (esp. my sis, June who always praised him to be a 101% 'hou hou sin sang' (good man) dat it's hard to find such a good tempered one.

  2. He always let me 'futt lou sou' (grumble and nag) and very, very, very seldom 'fire' me back.

  3. He's a doting and caring father to Destinee.

  4. He's my best chauffeur in the sense dat wherever and whenever I want to go anywhere, he's sure to chauffeur me.

  5. He's not the nosy type. Never mind about ppl's business.

  6. He's soft spoken. If he doesn't know u well, don't expect him to talk much.

  7. He pays for all the expenses, dat's why he's very stingy with his money.

  8. Most of all, he CARES about me.

Done. I would very much like to tag Rachel, Jaclyn and Prudy on this.

S'pore (Food)

Oopsie-daisie. When I read Michelle's blog only did I realise I still had this very very very back-dated post. I had it drafted but completely forgot about it. I must thanks Michelle for reminding me. The post was supposed to be posted after my Cruise and dat was supposed to be during the month of December last year *blek*.
a
Well, well, after the cruise, we disembark in Singapore, Vivo City. My SIL (BIL's wife) took us to have some food before leaving for her place. What caught our interest was this food court – FOOD REPUBLIC. There were so many food courts with all sorts of varieties.
a

Food Republic in Vivo City

I ordered this: Fried Mee
a
and this (my all time favourite and am sure to order whenever I visit S'pore)
a
Kuay Chap
a
BIL took us (without the kids and maids) to Chinatown for dinner and he wanted us to try the Fish Head Noodles there.
a
Holland Village XO Fish Head Bee Hun Restaurant
a
He helped us to order as we do not know what specialities they have in this shop and so we tried these:
a

Top Left: Fried Hor Fun with Sliced Fish Meat and Beansprout
Top Right: Spring Rolls
Bottom Left: Stir Fried Crocodile Meat with Ginger
and Spring Onions

Bottom Right: XO Sliced Fish Head Noodles

The Fish Head Noodles was simply deeeeliiiciiious. If u haven't try dat, I think u should and u won't regret. After dinner, we went street-shopping in Chinatown.
a

Chinatown
aa

This caught our interest while walking thru the streets:

Groundnuts with Tong Yuin tong shui
(slurp, slurp, slurp)
a
We went to another place called the People's Park and did some shopping there.
a
People's Park (obviously)
a
and took the MRT from Chinatown back to BIL's place.

What's this doing here?

Oh, (heehee) dat's my lunch (sort of 'fei kei charn') on the Aeroline bus.

Happy Teacher's Day!

I was supposed to post this earlier today but my computer kept 'kaputing' and I couldn't access to Google.
a
Anyway, I would like to wish all Teachers a Happy Teacher's Day esp. to Teacher Linda, Florence, Mary (Des's Teachers), Connie, Sylvia, Milly and Jo'Ann (Penang) and and and not forgetting my brother Tuck and his wife, Xiao Yuin.
a
Below was what Des I got for Des for her class Teacher, Linda and Mandarin Teacher, Florence, just a little something to show we appreciate what they have done. I need to thank them for being patient and understanding as my girl is not easy to deal with. When I brought Des to the class this morning, she clinged to me like a koala bear and wouldn't let go of me and wanted me to accompany her in the class (aiyo, really regretted to have brought her to the class as she was too timid to hand the pressies to her teachers). Teacher Linda was patient enough to wait until Des cooled down and tried to distract her and I quickly 'disappeared'.
a
It was a pity Teacher Mary had to go back to her hometown in Penang. Destinee really misses her very much and kept mentioning about Teacher Mary every now and then. Good luck to u, Teacher Mary, in ur new business.

Happy Mother's Day

This was the 1st gift I received from Destinee for Mother's Day.

Bingo! It's a hair clip. She did it at school during Art lesson. When I picked her up from Auntie's car after school, she gave me the hair clip and added these words: "Happy Mother's Day, Mommy, I love you!" And she hugged me. Oooeeeee, how sweeeeeet! I guess she must been taught by her teacher at school cos when I asked her the day before what she must say during Mother's Day, she was still blur blur.
a
HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY to all the mommy bloggers!

6 things weird about myself

Okay, okay, I know, I know, everyone will 'faint' seeing the title esp. Sasha (hahaha). Waiyoo, this is oso another long long long time ago tag by Sabrina (dated March 20th). I'm not going to disappoint her and better get it done. I don't know whether I'm weird or not. U judge, okay?
  1. I can eat noodles (be it 'kon lou' (dry), fried or in soup) without chillies or chillie sauce esp. whenever I order Fried Kueyteow, I'll remind the person who orders for me "NO CHILLIES". Accidentally forgotten to remind the seller, another plate of fried kueyteow WITHOUT CHILLIES PLEASE! Curry Laksa – no added chillie and chillie oil please. Some of my frens do call me 'leceh betul' (troublesome) but how to swallow something which I don't like? I can eat steamboat ingredients (fishballs, meat, whatever) without dipping into chillie or any type of sauce. I can, I can eat spicy food, even chillie padi but it's just dat I don't like.
  2. When I eat 'Kuih Kapet' (love letters), I'll 'unfold' the folded piece to eat. I seldom bite on the whole piece. I've to unfold the folded quarters and eat them piece by piece.
  3. When I eat biscuits with cream (2 pieces of biscuits and with cream in between), I'll eat 1 piece of the biscuit first, then lick the cream and finish off the other piece of biscuit. I think Elyss and Destinee 'inherited' this habit of mine (heehee).
  4. When I'm upset or angry, I won't feel like speaking to anyone or even 'face' the person (I only realised this when Pappy said I was 'qwai' (weird) when I refused to speak or even answer him.
  5. I don't like travelling. I always find travelling very troublesome. Have to pack and unpack, have to travel long tiring journeys. I rather stay at home and watch TV programmes or go shopping. I'm sure some of u will feel like slapping me, hahahahaha.
  6. When I sleep sideway, I need to put a pillow or my bolster to cover my ear. I'm a very sensitive to noise person. The slightest noise will wake me up – my maid's alarm clock rang in her room, I was the one who got up to stop the noise; the fan squirking will wake me up; water dripping onto the air-cond compressor or awnings from the floors above my apartment can keep me awake until the water stop dripping; wind blowing in the middle of the nite and there's noise from the door of my room, I'll open my eyes; I'll wake up at the noise of a mosquito buzzing around my ear; 1 type of noise which I really cannot tahan (bear) is the SNORES from Pappy. Gaks! I'll have to shove him whenever he snores. Sometimes I make him sleep in the next room.

Okay, done. Well, am I a weird person?

Destinee's 1st Term's progress

This is a long overdued post. Destinee's 1st term holidays were over. I was invited to attend the Parents' and Teachers' day on the 23rd March, 2007 (alamak, really can 'mi-mi mo mo' (dily daly) posting this – no choice, was so busy busy busy).
a
The appointment was at 8.20 a.m. and I was 5 minutes late (thanks to Pappy with his forever last minute out of the house). Quickly dragged Des and hurried up the stairs to her classroom where her class teacher was oredi waiting. Apologised to her and she invited me and Des to sit on the 'little' chairs (school children's chair) facing opposite her. She had Des's books in front of her and started to show me what Des had done during the 1st term. She showed me Des's progress book. The remarks were all As except interaction where she had a B (as expected). The teacher informed me Des was not very co-operative when it came to interacting with the other kids. She didn't like to join her other frens (except for a few) when playing or singing but she's better now compared to the 1st few days at school whereby she would sit in a corner and wouldn't want to be friends with her classmates. At least now she tells me she has a few frens and keep mentioning their names nearly every day.
a
The teacher was satisfied with Des's progress. She told me she elected Des to be the captain of the class to boost her timidness and when the hat was put onto Des's head, she started to cry. Haiyo, this girl of mine.
a
I let the teacher know dat Des was very slow in doing her homework and needed to be accompanied while writing. I was surprised when I was told dat Des wrote fast in the class and sometimes finished her writings within the period. Eiks! This girl of mine knows who to bully.
a
Actually, I'm satisfied with what the teachers are teaching Des and I can see dat Des learnt a lot after she started school. For her Bahasa Malaysia, she knows her 'ba bi bu – za zi zu' well and can make up simple words and can read the paragraphs from her Bahasa Reading book. Her teacher oso told me she has started Des on Book 6 of the English Reading books whereas some of her classmates are still on Book 3 or Book 4. Des likes Maths and I'm pleased dat she can do additions and subtractions and she enjoys attending the gym and swimming lessons. But I do find dat Des is lazy at colouring large pictures, she only likes colouring small pictures.

During my days, there was only ONE miserable kindergarten in my hometown and only the 'rich' people's kids were able to attend but now there are so many kindies in one area and parents are able to choose where they want their kids to go. I remember I only started to learn my ABCs when I was in primary one but now even a 2 year-old can read the ABCs. *gasps* Not easy being a pre-schooler nowadays hor?
